Snowfall and Ice Accumulation | Anchorage School District
Snowfall and Ice Accumulation | Anchorage School District
Good evening.
We are making the call early again tonight.
Due to the additional snowfall and ice accumulation from last night’s storm, road conditions in our neighborhoods will not improve by tomorrow morning for safe travel to school. The conditions will remain particularly hazardous for our student walkers and students at bus stops given road conditions and the enormous snow berms hampering visibility in our neighborhoods.
As a result, all ASD campuses are closed tomorrow. Employees should follow emergency closure procedures for their building or department. A decision about after-school and rental facilities activities will be made no later than Noon tomorrow.
We will continue working at our campuses and with our partners at the Municipality of Anchorage and State of Alaska to get the snow removed and get us back-to-school safely on Monday.
Also, we continue to research options for making up school days lost due to these weather closures. A plan will be presented to the School Board for review and approval soon.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time.
Be safe.
-Team ASD
