Guydo is joining us in from Virginia, where she was an educator with Spotsylvania County Public Schools.
How long have you been a counselor?
I was a middle school science teacher for ten years, then switched over to being a school counselor last year so this will be my second year.
Why Alaska?
I used to live in Washington state where I used to go hiking in the mountains and I used to go salmon fishing, so I missed being in the mountains. I’ve been to Alaska a couple of times and loved it.

What are you most looking forward to for the start of a new school year in a new school district in a new state?
I’m excited about a lot of things. I moved out here on my own and I’m looking forward to meeting new people. I’m looking forward to being at Gruening- they all seem really nice and friendly and willing to work as a team. I’ve heard really good things about Gruening. I’m looking forward to being back with the kids again and exploring Alaska and being in the mountains and salmon fishing and all that jazz.
