Sen. Dan Sullivan, U.S. Senator representing Alaska, addressed the ongoing government shutdown in a series of posts on November 7, 2025. In his tweets, Sullivan criticized Senate Democrats and discussed legislative efforts aimed at supporting federal workers affected by the shutdown.

In a post at 21:49 UTC, Sullivan stated, "The Schumer Shutdown is hurting people. You’re starting to see air travel being disrupted. All of this could be fixed immediately if a few Senate Democrats joined us in voting to reopen the government. That's what the American people want. That's what the vast majority of".

Later that evening at 22:57 UTC, he announced an upcoming vote on bipartisan legislation: "The Senate is about to vote on my bill with Senator Johnson, the Shutdown Fairness Act, to pay our federal workers—air traffic controllers, TSA, military, law enforcement—who are required to work during the Schumer shutdown. Following the vote at 23:59 UTC, Sullivan posted an update on its outcome: "Senate Democrats just voted to withhold paychecks from the federal workers who are required to work during the Schumer shutdown. A sad day here in the Senate."

Government shutdowns occur when Congress fails to pass appropriations bills or continuing resolutions needed for funding federal agencies and operations. During such periods, many federal employees are furloughed or required to work without immediate pay until funding is restored.
