Federal disaster declarations are critical for unlocking resources that assist local governments and communities with emergency relief and long-term recovery. The state’s congressional delegation plays an important role in advocating for these federal responses.
The Alaska Federation of Natives is one of the largest statewide Native organizations representing over 140,000 Native peoples across Alaska. Its annual convention serves as a central forum for discussing issues facing Indigenous communities.
