Senator Lisa Murkowski has addressed recent developments concerning the government shutdown and its effects on federal employees, transportation services, and emergency response efforts in Alaska.

On October 8, 2025, Murkowski commented on the impact of the government shutdown on federal workers. Later that day, she announced new funding for a critical air service program. In her post from October 8, 2025, she wrote, "Today, I received word that the Department of Transportation secured $41 million in additional funding to sustain the Essential Air Service program during the government shutdown through the end of October. I’m very grateful that Transportation Secretary Duffy was receptive when".

On October 9, 2025, Murkowski expressed appreciation for emergency management teams responding to severe weather in western Alaska. She said, "I want to thank the Alaska Division of Homeland Security and Management as well as local and tribal organizations for their hard work to keep Alaskans safe during the severe weather impacting communities in western Alaska. Please continue to follow the instructions of local".

Senator Lisa Murkowski represents Alaska in the U.S. Senate. The Essential Air Service program provides subsidies to ensure small communities maintain commercial air service during times of financial strain or disruptions such as a government shutdown.
