#ASDShineBright Please help us congratulate our Fine Arts Exemplary Artist Victoria Lowry of Chugiak High School. The portrait, a Scholastic Art Gold Key winner for the State of Alaska, is a piece Lowry submitted for the Exemplary Artist portfolio application.

"I've been drawing and hot-gluing all sorts of things since I could get my hands on pencils," said Lowry. "As I got older and wanted to draw/paint more complex and realistic things, my only interest grew because I came to view art as a challenge that could be over come by leaning/practicing much like math or science."

Lowry said finding friends with a common interest in art ultimately helped her to branch out to other forms of art like theater, literature, and music.

"I honestly really like how I can look back on my art journey almost like a diary, where I can see not just how my art has changed, but how things like my personality, influences, and thoughts have changes as well," said Lowry.
