We need your help to strengthen the Kenai Peninsula's broadband service & infrastructure!
The FCC is in the process of updating its current broadband maps with more detailed and precise information on the availability of fixed and mobile broadband services.
Updated maps will be used in the determination of funds the State of Alaska will receive for the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program and will help target unserved and underserved communities for the deployment of broadband.
Check out this Outreach Infographic that the Kenai Peninsula Regional Broadband Taskforce (KPBRT) has published which shares critical information on the importance of the mapping efforts of the FCC, what effect it has on the formula funding from the Infrastructure Bill, and how you can help with the fabric mapping of our community by performing a simple speed test from your home and places of business on the FCC website.
Households should conduct the speed test within their households, places of businesses, and organizations to get the most accurate locale information to the FCC. Additionally, each household, business, office, health clinic, school, and locale that has connectivity, should conduct the test on EACH connected device. This ensures a depth of data and precise download and upload speeds measurements that will be utilized for the fabric mapping.
Visit the FCC website and take the speed test now or any time before September 1, 2022. It's quick. It's easy.
