A message from the Seldovia Water Utility:
As of June 14, 2022- Water usage remains a little higher than normal in large part due to weather. There are two known water leaks that public works is aware of and this week with the help of ARWA's, Kevin Schoneman, we hope to better be able to pinpoint one of the leak locations and listen to areas throughout town in order to identify if there are anymore areas of concern.
Overall, water usage is shown to be peaking during the weekends and to be significantly decreasing in usage during weekdays, and especially on days that are overcast and/or rainy.
This is a great time to remind individuals to please be cognizant of water usage and waste.
Some common ways that water is wasted are:
*Leaky pipes, hoses, or fixtures
*Leaving hoses running after use, such as, watering the garden or fish processing
In fact, according to the US EPA "Outdoor water use accounts for more than 30 percent of total household water use, on average, but can be as much as 60 percent of total household water use in arid regions." https://www.epa.gov/watersense/statistics-and-facts....
So please remember to replace leaky plumbing and turn off hoses and faucets while not in use and if you see Jordan and Kevin out and about this week give them a friendly wave.
