Senator Lisa Murkowski, who represents Alaska in the U.S. Senate, recently shared a series of updates on her official social media account regarding legislative actions and community engagement.

On September 30, 2025, Murkowski addressed the Senate's vote on a continuing resolution aimed at averting a government shutdown. She stated, "This evening, the Senate voted on a continuing resolution to keep the federal government open through late November. I supported that legislation because it would have provided more time to work on appropriations bills, but its failure means that a harmful shutdown will begin at" (September 30, 2025).

The following day, Murkowski emphasized the importance of public broadcasting for Alaska’s communities. She wrote, "Alaska is stronger when our communities are connected, and public broadcasting is at the heart of the effort." (October 1, 2025).

Later on October 1, she reflected on meeting with advocates living with ALS. Murkowski shared: "I had the opportunity to visit with some wonderful advocates living with ALS yesterday, including @RealEricDane. Being present with them as they shared their stories was uplifting and offered a chance to reflect on what we’ve been able to accomplish in the fight against ALS," (October 1, 2025).

Murkowski has previously supported efforts to prevent government shutdowns by advocating for temporary funding measures while Congress works toward passing full-year appropriations bills. Public broadcasting services in Alaska play a crucial role in providing information and emergency alerts across remote regions where other forms of communication may be limited. The senator has also shown ongoing support for individuals affected by ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), working alongside advocacy groups and patients to advance research and care initiatives.
