Senator Lisa Murkowski has recently addressed several issues impacting Alaska through her official Twitter account. Her posts between July 29 and August 1, 2025, touch on resource development policy, earthquake safety alerts, and the closure of a major public broadcasting entity.
On July 29, Murkowski commented on recent developments in Alaskan resource management, stating: "This latest announcement builds on the progress we have made throughout this year to return to the rule of law for resource development in Alaska. While the last administration sought to shut down our petroleum reserve – and refused to meaningfully consult with the Alaska Natives".
Later that week, following a significant seismic event near Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula, Murkowski expressed appreciation for federal agencies monitoring natural disasters. On July 30 she wrote: "We’re all grateful for the @NWS and @NOAA's National Tsunami Warning Center in Palmer for providing alerts tonight as my team and I monitor this very significant earthquake off the Kamchatka Peninsula. Please follow all advisory warnings and stay safe."
On August 1, Murkowski addressed news regarding public broadcasting funding cuts: "The Corporation for Public Broadcasting announced today that it will be closing down by the end of the year following the passage of a rescissions package earlier this month. My team and I are still figuring out what this announcement will mean for Alaska Public Media, but rest". The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) is a nonprofit corporation created by Congress in 1967 to fund public radio and television stations across the United States.
Murkowski represents Alaska in the U.S. Senate and has been an advocate for local resource development as well as disaster preparedness efforts in her state.
