Sen. Dan Sullivan, U.S. Senator from Alaska, shared a series of posts on July 25 and 26, 2025, regarding recent developments in trade relations between the United States and Japan, with particular focus on the Alaska LNG project.

In a post dated July 25, Sullivan stated: "President Trump and his team this week announced a historic trade deal with Japan that is once again highlighting the importance of the @AlaskaLNG project. @POTUS has been talking about Alaska LNG for months and was doing it again on Tuesday at a White House reception with https://t.co/dugZeDm3Wh".

On the same day, he further elaborated on discussions related to the deal: "@alaskalng @POTUS On Thursday, I met with a good friend of mine, Tadashi Maeda, chairman of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC). We had a great conversation about how JBIC, one of the biggest financing firms in the world, will be a part of this trade deal and will be a key player https://t.co/hgw8Lwrw02".

A subsequent post on July 26 noted Sullivan's presence at an event in Alaska: "Great to be back down on the Kenai Peninsula for Progress Days! https://t.co/P1HiML2zUD".

The Alaska LNG project is designed to transport natural gas from Alaska’s North Slope to global markets. It has been considered an important component for economic development in Alaska as well as an opportunity to strengthen energy ties between the United States and international partners such as Japan. The involvement of entities like JBIC indicates potential international investment interest in U.S.-based energy infrastructure projects.

President Donald Trump’s administration has previously promoted American energy exports as part of its broader economic strategy. Trade agreements between the U.S. and countries like Japan have often included provisions supporting large-scale energy projects.
