Sen. Dan Sullivan, U.S. Senator from Alaska, has recently addressed issues of national security and economic development in a series of posts on his official Twitter account.

On July 24, 2025, Sullivan reported on increased military activity near U.S. borders: "On Tuesday, 2 Russian Tu-95 Bear bombers and 2 Russian Su-35 fighters flew through Alaska’s Air Defense Identification Zone, the eleventh air incursion in the last year. The escalating aggression that we are seeing from the Russians and Chinese in the North Pacific underscores".

The following day, July 25, 2025, Sullivan highlighted concerns regarding foreign influence and intimidation efforts: "Yesterday, I chaired a @CECCgov hearing on the Chinese Communist Party’s global campaign of intimidation and repression against Taiwan and its partners. The CCP is even targeting our own citizens right here in America. It is outrageous and every American should know about it."

Later on July 25, Sullivan shifted focus to local economic matters affecting Alaskan communities: "For four years, the Young Fishermen’s Development Program has reduced the high barriers & costs preventing prospective fishermen from filling the ranks. I've introduced legislation to reauthorize this program to help bolster our fishing fleet and support our coastal communities."

These statements come amid ongoing concerns about U.S.-Russia relations in the Arctic region as well as increasing tensions between China and Western nations over Taiwan and other geopolitical issues. The Young Fishermen’s Development Program was established to address workforce shortages in Alaska's fishing industry by providing training opportunities for new entrants.
