Murkowski announces new majority staff for Senate Indian Affairs Committee

U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski, representing Alaska and serving as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs (SCIA), has announced the SCIA Majority staff for the 119th Congress. Murkowski emphasized the importance of having dedicated staff to address Native peoples' needs. "Following my recent transition to Chairman of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, it is as important as ever to have driven and dedicated staff members to advance the needs of Native peoples," said Senator Murkowski. "Our committee staff is united by a shared vision: to work in partnership with all Indigenous peoples to improve economic development, healthcare, education, economic opportunity, tribal sovereignty, and more. I’m excited for all the good work we have ahead."

Amber Ebarb will serve as Staff Director. Her experience includes working at the National Congress of American Indians and serving as Legislative Assistant to Senator Murkowski.

Lucy Murfitt takes on the role of Chief Counsel after joining SCIA in 2021. She previously served in various roles at the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources.

Jacqueline Bisille will be a Policy Advisor, handling issues related to health, education, Indian lands, and cultural preservation since she joined SCIA in 2014.

Jocelyn Broman joins as Counsel from her previous position with the House Committee on Natural Resources.

Anna Powers serves as a Senior Professional Staff Member after working with Covenant House International.

Samuel Hiratsuka comes aboard as a Professional Staff Member from outgoing-Representative Mary Sattler Peltola’s office.

Hannah Ray becomes Communications Director after serving nearly seven years under Senator Murkowski's communications team.

Katie Bante is appointed Health Policy Fellow from the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.

Sarah McKinnis transitions into a Legislative Assistant role following her time as Non-Designated Staff Assistant at SCIA.

Bryce Cluff will serve as a Staff Assistant after assisting in legislative matters concerning Indigenous peoples in Representative Mary Sattler Peltola’s office.
