Last week, U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska announced her support for the Local Radio Freedom Act by cosponsoring the bill. This bipartisan legislation was introduced by Senators John Barrasso from Wyoming and Maggie Hassan from New Hampshire. The act aims to prevent Congress from imposing new taxes and fees on locally owned radio stations.

Senator Murkowski emphasized the importance of local radio stations in Alaska, stating, "Locally owned radio stations are the backbone of Alaska, sharing essential information to keep those in the furthest corners of our state connected." She added that the legislation would facilitate station operations, thereby benefiting communities and small businesses.
