U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski announced her nominations for the U.S. Military Service Academies' class of 2029, featuring a group of young Alaskans recognized for their leadership and community dedication.
“These young Alaskans have shown exemplary leadership and dedication to their communities, and it is an honor to nominate them to our nation’s military service academies,” said Senator Murkowski. “I extend my congratulations and best wishes to each of them.”
Nominees are evaluated on academic performance, extracurricular involvement, and leadership skills. They will compete nationally for admission spots, as a congressional nomination does not guarantee entry. The United States Coast Guard Academy does not require such nominations.
For the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO, nominees include Alexander Borke from Anchorage and Rylan Forth from Anchorage*, among others.
The U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD features nominees like Sarah Baisden from Kenai and Maxwell Carson from Anchorage.
At the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, NY, nominees include Nina Adams from Wasilla and Tyler Drake from Anchorage.
For the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY, Rylan Forth* from Anchorage is among those nominated.
[*received more than one nomination.]
