Anchorage Municipality recorded an unemployment rate of 5.1% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 8,221 people out of the 292,545 living in Anchorage Municipality at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in Anchorage Municipality has increased compared to the 4.9% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Anchorage Municipality was less than the statewide unemployment rate of 6.5%.

Of the 153,956 people who had a job during that time, 9,358 were employed in the Armed Forces and 144,598 belonged to the civilian labor force.
