#ASDShineBright Third and fifth grade students from Muldoon Elementary School  packaged donations from a school-wide food drive yesterday. The school collected 511 lbs. for Food Bank of Alaska. This was a huge success as this was the school's first ever food drive!

Students from the grade levels who donated the most items were selected to help get the food ready for delivery. Students learned how to organize the food items by size and weight and how to safely load the heavy boxes in to a vehicle. One student said that packing and moving the boxes reminded him of chopping wood with his dad.

Food scarcity is common for many students and their families. The food drive was an opportunity for students to learn the importance of giving back to their community and peers. Thank you to the Muldoon Elementary PTA for making this happen for our students and community.
