#ASDShineBright The Alaska Arts Education Consortium (AAEC) announced their 2023 Champions of Art in Education and this year's student winner is one of our very own, Senior Rhianna Herbert of West Anchorage High School! Please join us in congratulating her!
Each year AAEC selects a student, educator, advocate, and a leader to receive this award. The student champion is someone who is not only dedicated to their own practice in the arts, but also involved in efforts to help their art form thrive within the community.
Rhianna took Ms. Henry's Drawing & Design class last year, and now is one of the visual art TAs who has been creating the beautiful display cases around the school. She also helps do a lot of the dirty behind-the-scenes work like wedging clay.
When Herbert is not helping make the visual arts department run smoother, you can usually find her in the dance studio! She is a member of Dance West and also Underground Dance Company. She even dabbles in theatre and was one of the dancers in Sobrosol's production of "In the Heights" last year.
Congratulations again Rhianna!
