#ASDShineBright Enjoy these beautiful photos from Bartlett High School’s Chinese New Year and Cultural Night, an event organized by Chinese Language Teacher Yan Wang. Kudos to all of the students and staff who worked hard to deliver this celebration of ASD’s diverse community.

There were two performances mostly comprised of Bartlett students grade 9-12. During the daytime performance about 100 Nicholas J Begich Middle School Chinese language students joined. Most of the groups of performers started practicing during the fall and during their free time, such as before school and at lunch. After school practices a month or so before our event.

Wang said what started as a Chinese New Year celebration for Mandarin Chinese language students in 2019 has now expanded to include more groups to represent the Bartlett community.

“Bartlett High School is a rich school full of many wonderful cultures,” said Wang. “Students have something they can call theirs.  When their families and our community were there, they saw our children were doing something great at school. Our students are very accepting and kind to each other. They are dedicated and hardworking. They enriched our lives at Bartlett. They are proud of their cultures. Through events like this, the students can feel connected and appreciated. They are empowered to be the best they can be in their academics and themselves. We would like to thank our supporters Dr. Tian and Dr. Binder who generously brought the students hundreds of almond cookies and stuffed bunnies to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit.”
