#ASDShineBright Eagle River High School Green Club partnered with Municipality of Anchorage Solid Waste Services to collect recyclables within the school. The club set up a cardboard dumpster on campus, an effort to limit waste around the holidays. ERHS Teacher Clinton Holloway is the advisor of the Green Club who hosted the cardboard recycling event.
Recycling Coordinator and Spokesperson Kelli Toth said cardboard has value. It can be remade into new cardboard or other paper products, and if recycled, extends the life of the landfill.
"Efforts such as what the Green Club is doing at Eagle River High School will make a tremendous impact on the effort to reduce what is going to be buried in the landfill," said Toth. "On behalf of Solid Waste Services, we want to thank the ERHS students for their efforts, they are making a difference.”
