#ASDShineBright Former Aquarian Charter School student Donald Heflin joined after school athletes to model, demonstrate, and mentor. The kids were in awe of his kicks and jumps. Heflin is the current Indigenous Games of the North state champion (previously named Junior Native Youth Olympics). The games include 10 events based on games past generations of Alaska Native people played as a way to test their hunting and survival skills, increase strength and maintain endurance, agility and the balance of mind and body. We love to see our students learning and practicing these skills!
