Prevention information:
Burglary Crime Prevention Tips:1) See Something Say Something! 2) If you notice anything suspicious contact University Police immediately. 3) If a door or window is in need of repair, contact officials to have the repair made quickly. 4) Do not allow people to tailgate into the buildings. If you do not specifically know the person lives in the building do not allow them to enter unescorted. 5) Do not prop exterior doors open even for a few moments. 6) Participate in Operation ID. University Police will assist you with engraving and collecting the serial numbers of your property to assist with recovery efforts. In addition, as criminals learn of participation in Operation ID they move to look for victims with less risk of being caught.
What to do if you believe you have been a victim: If you come home or to your office and find an unexplained open/broken window or door: 1) Do not enter – the perpetrator may still be inside. 2) Use your cell phone, neighbor’s phone, emergency phone, Guardian Safety App to notify University Police Department. 3) Do not touch anything or clean up until the police have inspected for evidence.
