Orange Shirt Day

#ASDShineBright - Last week Tyson Elementary School observed Orange Shirt Day, otherwise known as The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Students and staff wore orange shirts, some that say "Every Child Matters" to show support for all Indigenous people.

This day was first established as an observance in Canada in 2013, as part of an effort to promote awareness and education of the residential school system and the impact it has had on Indigenous communities for over a century.

Thank you to ASD Indigenous Education Student Support Specialist Kate Cannon for creating t-shirts for Tyson Elementary staff.
