2022 Yale Educator Award

#ASDShineBright-- South Anchorage High School Counselor Sara Miller has been recognized as a recipient of the 2022 Yale Educator Award. The award is a result of being nominated by last year's valedictorian, Yule Zhang, who is part of Yale's class of 2026.

The Yale Educator Recognition Program recognizes outstanding educators from around the world who support and inspire their students to perform at high levels and to achieve excellence.

Miller said during the transition back to school after the pandemic she made sure to be mindful when meeting with students to make an extra effort to re-connect and be a resource.

"Yule was motivated and would run big ideas for essays through me," said Miller. "Receiving this award was a good reminder that even the smallest interactions can make an impact on people."

Miller, Dimond High School Alumni, has been a school counselor at SAHS for 19 years.

“We try to remind our parents and students to come see us and talk to us, even if you have no clue what to do after high school,” said Miller. “We love it when students come in and we can offer that guidance.”

Congratulations Sara Miller! And thank you for all you do for your students and community. -Team ASD
