Better Hearing And Speech Month

Hearing

What if you lost your ability to speak or hear? UAA’s National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) chapter challenges you to celebrate Better Speech and Hearing Month by doing one of the following tasks.

• Watch a show with captions and the volume off.

• Communicate without words.

• Wear ear plugs or noise canceling headphones, taking note of what can be heard.

• Visit an environment where the primary spoken language is foreign to yours.

These tasks might help you realize the importance of communication and how challenging our world would be without these abilities.
