Seniors Returned to Bear Valley Elementary School

Graduation party checklist planning the perfect night

Seniors from across the Anchorage School District returned to their sixth grade school, Bear Valley Elementary School, days before graduation to open letters they wrote to themselves in sixth grade.

South Anchorage High School Graduate Abbie Hemry started her letter with "Dear, Hopefully smart, pretty, successful future self". She said it was funny seeing how excited she was and all of the spelling errors.

"Like I had written in my letter I am still pursuing a nursing degree and going to the same college I was thinking about in elementary school," said Hemry.

"[Today] I would say tell my younger self to enjoy the things around me rather than waiting on new things to happen. There are a lot of things I took for granted that I’m not able to do as much now. While it was fun to look forward to the future it was also fun to live as a little sixth grader without the responsibilities of an adult."
