Anchorage School District issued the following announcement on April 1.
Bayshore Elementary School sixth grader Jasiah proudly displays a copy of his artwork that is currently on display at the Anchorage Museum in the Youth Art Month 50th Anniversary art exhibition.
“I cut out pieces of paper and added onto the owl to add detail,” Jasiah said of his collage piece. It took him about a week to make.
Jasiah said sometimes he cannot express what is in his head, but art is a way he can express himself.
His piece is on display for the entire community, but there is one particular audience he is proud to share his work with. “I’m most excited to show my brothers...I can be just like them. My family being able to see my art is just the best thing to me.”
In is free time Jasiah likes drawing comics. His favorite type of art is Papier-mâché.
