Anchorage School District recently issued the following announcement.
Challenging a positive. All positive PCR tests are considered final. ASD does not offer re-testing. If a student or staff chooses to re-test at an alternate site, ASD will still require the student/staff follow isolation protocols following the original positive test.
For VACCINATED Individuals
I am vaccinated, have had Covid in the past 90 days, and I have recently developed new symptoms:
You have three options (you only need to do one of these options):
Submit or confirm that a copy of the positive molecular test within the last 90 days is on file with the school nurse or Healthcare Services and stay home until fever-free for 24 hours and symptoms are resolving.
Obtain a doctor note that states that the symptoms are not COVID related (Chronic Condition/Symptom Release Form)
Isolate for 5-days from the start of symptoms or positive test, whichever comes first.
Can return to school/work on Day 6 if symptoms are resolving and you have been fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.

I have been vaccinated and I have had recent contact with a known positive who I will no longer have contact with:
No quarantine is required initially if you have no symptoms.
If you have symptoms, see #5, below.
If you have no symptoms, you may return to school/work. The CDC recommends that you receive a lab-confirmed, molecular-based COVID test on or after Day 5. This is not required at ASD.
If you get tested and it is positive, see #2, above.
ASD requires universal masking at school. It is recommended by the CDC that you wear a mask in public and monitor symptoms for 10-days from the last day of exposure.
