Alaska State Troopers issued the following announcement on March 2.
Did you know the earth is about 21,000 nautical miles in circumference? Why do we ask?In the last 30 days, the Alaska State and Wildlife Troopers have flown over 24,000 nautical miles of single engine and helicopter flight! We circumnavigated the distance of the earth in the last 30 days. This does not count our King Air (twin engine) flight time. This is 347 flight operations and 392 flight hours. We conduct countless law enforcement and search and rescue missions a year. The mission of DPS is closely attached to flying the wild places of Alaska. Did you know we regularly hire new troopers who are pilots? After a couple of years of learning the law enforcement side of the job, these troopers can then work their way into regularly flying department aircraft all over the last frontier.
