Anchorage, AK – On July 5, Anchorage Mayor Dave Bronson released the following statement regarding the Mt. View Elementary Playground Fire.
“I would like to express my deepest sympathy regarding the fire, Tuesday at Mountain View Elementary. Our thoughts go out to the students, faculty, staff, and community members who have been affected by this tragic event. Schools and playgrounds play a pivotal role in the lives of children, not only during the academic year but also throughout the brief Alaskan summers. They serve as safe havens, fostering an environment of growth, fun, learning, and happiness all year round. It's important that we recognize the need for year-round safety at our schools. I stand united with the Anchorage School District, and our local authorities to ensure that those responsible for this act of destruction are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. There is a way you can help. The Anchorage School District has a Camper Host Program. The district is looking for RV travelers to park and provide a presence at school facilities."
